Trumpeter and composer Marquis Hill won First Place in the 2014 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition. Marquis, a Chicago native, received his Bachelor or Arts degree from Northern Illinois University and Master of Music degree from DePaul University.  Marquis currently resides in New York City and has four albums to his credit: New Gospel, Sounds of the City, The Poet and Modern Flows vol. 1. Marquis will be performing with Christopher McBride (alto sax), Justin Thomas (vibraphone), Joshua Ramos (bass) and Makaya Mccraven (drums).   Monk-in-Motion: The Next Face of Jazz presents the top three winners of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition.
