Associate Technical Director

BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center seeks PT Associate Technical Director for a presenting/rental two-theatre venue.

The Associate Technical Director works with full staff and freelance technical crew to support events and ensure a safe efficient work environment. Must be detail-oriented with superior technical, computer, organizational and leadership skills. Must have strong background in lighting and sound with basic rigging and carpentry skills required. This position works designated events during the year and will include weekends, early mornings, and late evenings. Hours are flexible and scheduled monthly with the technical director. Must have at least 2 years of supervisory experience in the same position or similar to be considered for employment.

Start date: August 2nd, 2010. Salary: $22.50 per hour. 20 hours per week required with possible per week extension during the year at peak times of production. Includes major medical after three months. Mailed applications must be post marked by July 10th.

Freelance Sound Engineer

BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center has limited but immediate openings for freelance A1 sound engineers. Sound engineers whose experience is only with recording and studio work should not apply. Must have strong skills in engineering and the set up of cabaret and big band jazz style shows. Previous experience with digital wireless microphones is required. Applicants must have at least 3 years professional, not classroom, experience with live performance front of house operation on analog and digital consoles. Familiarity with Yamaha and Soundcraft consoles is preferred. Troubleshooting and problem-solving of systems is equally preferred. Positions are freelance and work is scheduled on an as-needed, month-to-month basis. Applicants should understand that this is not a staff or part time position. House Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage & supervise all public performances, special events, and in house needs
• Report to the Operations Director.
• Oversee planning, scheduling and coordination of performances and special events
• Create House Reports documenting step by step breakdown of events
• Supervise and train ushering staff
• Convene staff meetings to coordinate special projects, house responsibility and training sessions
• Arrange hospitality needs for clients
• Work with security staff and campus policy during events, coordinate emergency procedures prior to events
• Oversee house seat holds for all public performances; coordinate VIP sections as well as other reserved sections
• Attend weekly staff meeting and monthly operation meetings
• Monitor personnel time sheets and submit to Operations Director.
• Provide administrative assistance

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor degree required
• Previous house management experience required
• Working knowledge of event planning and a Art’s (theatre/music/dance) background
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills
• Well organized and detail-oriented
• Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills
• Fireguard Certification Preferred (Working knowledge of fire code restrictions & regulations)
• Available weekends and evenings on weekdays

SALARY:
Commensurate with experience
$26,000 to 32,000 plus Health Benefits

Marketing Associate

Reports To: Marketing Director

RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES:
Under the Marketing Director’s supervision, the Marketing Associate will maintain website, design marketing collateral for programming events, monitor marketing materials of rental clients, and maintain membership list & correspondence, office administration and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required. MUST have strong computer graphic skills. Must have a strong knowledge of MS Office, Photoshop, InDesign and Quark. Some marketing experience is needed. Good communication skills, excellent time management skills, and strong interpersonal skills.

SALARY: HIGH TWENTIES plus benefits.
